2027 Elections: Tambuwal reveals ‘national’ plan to unseat Tinubu

Aminu Tambuwal, ex-governor of Sokoto, has revealed plans to unseat President Tinubu in 2027 as a national consensus, which he is willing to do his best to achieve.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today, the former speaker revealed his commitment to ousting Tinubu and APC from the presidential seat in the 2027 elections.
“I am fully involved in a process—democratically and lawfully—that will end, by the grace of God, in sending this government out of office.
“With the help of God and Nigeria, we will send these people out of office,” he said.
Speaking further, Tambuwal rejected the notion that the African Democratic Congress (ADC)-led coalition is a pro-northern agenda, claiming it is rather a national agenda.
“Is Peter Obi from Northern Nigeria? Is Aregbesola not from Osun State? What are you telling me? Are they not all part of the coalition?” he asked.
According to Tambuwal, the Tinubu-led administration has failed to meet the expectations of Nigerians and as such, a constitutional and democratic change of government is imminent.
“It is not cast in stone that he may not lose in 2027. Every effort being made to make it if he is invisible — that Bola Tinubu cannot be defeated — is rubbish.
“He can be defeated; I believe so. I am working along with the coalition leaders to do that in the interest of the country. It is not about Bola Tinubu. It is about the way he is running the country,” he added.
Tambuwal believed that Tinubu cannot defeat an opposition comprising former President Goodluck Jonathan, Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Hence, the need to make all of them come together under a unified umbrella ahead of what might be one of the most important elections in Nigeria history.
“It will be easier for the opposition to form an alliance to defeat Tinubu. But if Tinubu, Jonathan, Atiku, Peter Obi, and Kwankwaso run in the same election, that would be easy for Tinubu to win,” he added.
“When this happens the dynamics will be different and a lot of things will change the way people will vote.”
Tambuwal, however, hesitated when quizzed about his choice of president, stating that he would come back to make his choice known when everyone openly declares their interest.
