Bauchi state Governor, Bala Mohammed has warned members and candidates contesting various political offices in the state to focus on how to succeed rather than involving themselves in the controversy at the national level of the party.
Governor Bala who gave the warning during the party stakeholders meeting at the government house Saturday, commended the leadership of the party for conducting a transparent primaries in the state.
Bala who noted that Bauchi is the only state in Nigeria with loyal political players, urged the party faithfuls allow him handle the controversy at the national level of the party the way he is doing.
“I don’t want any one of us to get involved in the controversy at the national level, it’s above us, leave that for me to handle it the way I am handling it as your leader, because certainly we can not afford that, I will have a disparaging consequences on us”, Bala said.
The governor stated that the party is supreme, said in some places there were hues and cries unlike in Bauchi where only complaints were recorded and have been amicably addressed.
“This is why today if you see some of the national analysis on the problems and challenges of the party, you will never hear Bauchi been mentioned”, he said.
“We are together from top to bottom, we respect our presidential candidate and we are with him, we respect the national party, national working committee and here too. It is not that we don’t have problem, we do have problems but politics is about accommodation, swallowing your own problem and challenges for the greater benefit of the bigger picture, the general public”, Bala added.
Bala said since assumption of office in 2019, he has been preoccupied with initiatives and Programmes that are aim at adding value to the lives of the citizens across 20 local government area of the state.
“We have so many Programmes and projects that we have not been able to complete but I am very happy that we have completed about 80 to 90 percent of our promises, we have to look at the remaining ones, while at the same time trying to come back”, he said.
While noting that the party has recorded success by winning people from other parties to its fold, Bala reminded party stakeholders that managing success is a big challenge, advising them to open up and accommodate one another.
“There must be patience and accommodation, we must respect each other, those coming should respect those that are here and those who were found here must respect those coming in. It’s just like the religion of Islam, the new comer and the old comers are all the same, therefore we are all the same people.
Bala Mohammed said he has not seen a state where PDP has received decampees like Bauchi state, adding that he appointed his campaign DG from one of the decampees and no body opposed him.
Governor Bala who said that the party at the local government level is not doing as expected but is doing well at the state level, called on the elected local government Chairmen support the candidates.
“The elected local government Chairmen are not supporting our candidates as much as I want, we have to do it, that gap should be closed down, our party leaders at the local governments should close ranks with our councilors and our Chairmen irrespective of the tenure that we have, even after your tenure, you will still remain a veritable structure of the party and we will respect you”, Bala assured.
