2017: Fayemi assures Nigerians of remarkable progress
Contrary to the doom prediction of Governor Ayo Fayose for Nigeria in 2017, former Governor of Ekiti State and current Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi,has expressed strong hopes, and greater turn around for Nigeria in 2017
Specifically, Fayemi expressed that the year would be a year of remarkable progress and achievement for the country, in view of the latest moves of the federal government at puting things to shape across all, sectors of Nigeria’s economy.
He however lambasted Givernor Ayo Fayose for making a 22 predictions without any single positive one gor his own country and state, rather it was all a foretold of hardship, misery and backwardness.
His words: “If someone has made 22 predictions about his own country and none is positive or good, you can be sure the predictions are for the person making them. For me, 2017 will be a year of astounding buoyancy, greatness, fulfillment and accomplishments.
“It is true economic recession has made things difficult for everyone in the country, but we can see that is already giving way to noticeable stability which will soon yield results across sectors of the economy”, he said.
He assured Nigerians that his Ministry would make appreciable progress not only in terms of revenue generation but equally in respect of creating well-charted and steady path for the country to source income through non-oil resources of the country.
Dr. Fayemi, spoke with journalists at Ishan Ekiti his country home shortly after a Special thanksgiving service organised for him and his family at St Martins Catholic Church in the town.
At the service were his wife, Erelu Bisi, their son, Folajimi, former aides to the governor, other political functionaries of his administration, friends and realtions
Speaking in a rare criticism Fayose e’s unending condemnation of the policies and programmes of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government, Fayemi said governor (Fayose) risked being a prime beneficiary of his latest unsavoury predictions on/about the country in 2017.
Fayose had last week made starling 22 predictions about occurrences that would shape and shake the coming year, stating that a former Head of State/President might die; that a new (major) party that would dislodge APC from governance would emerge; and that there would be more hardship and poverty in the country.
Fayose added that at least four Ministers of the federal cabinet would lose their portfolios; that naira would worsen as a dollar would go for a minimum of N600; that the FG would find it difficult to source $29.9 Billion Loan to fund the 2017 budget; among others.
