2 killed, houses, schools destroyed, as storm wreaks harvoc in Nasarawa

Tuesday, was a sad day for the people of Nasarawa state as storm killed two people and destroyed many houses and schools in Doma Local Government Area (LGA) of the State.
Daily Times reports that the storm started around 2am and lasted for more than one hour in the early hours of Tuesday.
Some of the residents of Doma who spoke to our correspondent said they have never witnessed the type of storm in the history of Doma.
Mrs. Mary Osabonya said that Doma North Secondary School was totally destroyed and parts of Taal Modern Primary School was also destroyed.
She added that MTN Mast fell on a house and killed one woman in Lower Benue area of Doma while one other man died in Dutun Alarama area also of the town.
Mrs. Osabonya added that so many electrical Poles, shops and houses were also destroyed. Adding that the forward operation base (FOP) of the newly established Military Barrack in Doma was also destroyed.
Similarly, Zainan Ibrahim, told Daily Times that their house was totally destroyed and they are currently stranded without shelter.
Ibrahim therefore called on the state government to come to their aid of the affected persons to enable them stand on their feet again.
All efforts to see the Executive Secretary of Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency (NASEMA) Zakari Zamani Allu Maga, to know what they are doing to come to the aid of the affected persons proved abortive.
