11 nabbed in Ondo for cultism

The anti-cultism squad of the Ondo State Police Command has arrested eleven suspected cult members belonging to the Aye confraternity group.

The suspected cult members were apprehended in Owo Local Government Area, after their initiation in a thick forest off Ifon road.

The Daily Times gathered that the Owo Police Divisional Officer, Eboka Frida, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, led the operation to the arrest of the suspects, who were mostly youths.

Police sources revealed that all the suspects were brought into the area in volkswagen golf cars from Uzebba community, a border town in Edo State.

The State Police spokesman, Femi Joseph, confirmed the arrest and said the suspects, who were currently in custody had confessed being initiated into a cult group.

He disclosed that the suspects were found with blood-stained polythene bag, stressing that this aroused police suspicion to effect their arrest.

He added that the police was still carrying out investigation and would charge the suspects to court after its findings.
