10th Senate : Tinubu maintains APC’s position on AKpabio, Barau

President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his position and that of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the choice of Senators Godswill Akpabio and Jibrin Barau for the leadership position of Senate President and Deputy Senate President of the 10th Senate.
The President maintained this position Thursday at a meeting with Senators-Elect and House of Representatives Members-Elect of the APC at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on the Nigerian project.
He informed the lawmakers elect- of the fact that the position has not changed.
in his opening speech congratulated all the Legislators- elect and expressed his desire and that of his administration to work with all of them in the 10th Assembly in the overriding public interest.
Tinubu said “the president of this country and his vice are of the Muslim faith, and it is natural and in the spirit of national unity and equity that the position of the Senate President be given to our christian citizens. We should not be seen to wanting to kill christianity in this country.”

All elected lawmakers of the party, with the exception of former Governor of Zambara State, AbdulAziz Yari; Jimoh Ibrahim (Ondo) and Elisha Abbo (Adamawa), were in attendance at the meeting.
However, it was learnt that, shortly after the meeting, Senators-Elect Abdulaziz Yari, Jimoh Ibrahim and Elisha Abbo invited APC senators- elect to a meeting later yesterday night at the Fraiser Suites, Abuja.
