10,000 A’Ibom indigenes to benefit from President’s wife pet project

Over 10,000 Akwa Ibom indigenes are to benefit from the Future Assured programme, a pet project of the wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari. The programme which is also supported by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Senator Godswill Akpabio and other members of the National Assembly will be officially flagged-off today (Friday) by the First Lady. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, who disclosed this to journalists in Uyo, said beneficiaries were not only members of the All Progressives Congress(APC) as they cut across party lines. Enang said beneficiaries were selected through a transparent and apolitical process by the NDE, saying the gesture was not part of the electioneering campaigns. He said some of the beneficiaries will be empowered with non-refundable grants, loans, interest-free loans while others will be trained on various areas of skills. “The wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari will be visiting Akwa Ibom state for the purpose of flagging off her pet project, Future Assured Programme in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment. “She will be here as a guest of the All Progressives Congress family and Akwa Ibom people to flag off that programme which is an empowerment programme aimed at giving starter packs and other programmes that are undertaken by her pet project, Future Assured Project and the National Directorate of Employment. “Other persons would also collaborate on that programme including the Niger Delta Development Commission, the Senator representing Akwa Ibom Northeast, Senator Godswill Akpabio and other National Assembly members who have most of their constituency empowerment programme that they would want to use that opportunity to empower their people”, Enang said.
