10 Gay Suspects Arrested In Raid of Hotel To Face Prosecution As 6 Others Flee.

No fewer than 10 gay suspects have reportedly been arrested by operatives of the Edo State Command of the Nigerian Police after a coordinated raid of a remote hotel in Ogheghe community in Benin City on July 1st 2023 while 6 others were said to escape during the operation.

A statement made available to journalists in Benin City by the Command stated that the remote hotel was the venue of a secret gay party organized for members away from the prying eyes in the metropolis.

According to the statement, the police acting on an intelligence report obtained a fortnight ago, swiftly responded and swooped in on the suspects in the middle of the wild party organized strictly for male members of the group .

It was said that the police recovered during the raid incriminating evidence from the arrested suspects including nude pictures of some members in their phones with varieties of other sex toys and materials

The 10 gay suspects were arrested during the raid while 6 others reportedly escaped through exit back doors in the building during the raid of the remote hotel as sporadic gunshots were immediately fired in the hotel premises to announce the sudden arrival of the police .

The police in the statement further disclosed that all 10 arrested gay suspects made confessional statements on their level of involvements in the sacrilegious act which further incriminated 6 others who escaped from the party scene at the remote hotel.

The Edo State Command of the Nigerian Police released the identities of the 10 arrested gay suspects after the completion of investigation and profiling to include Joseph Pedro; Benedict .A; Amos .D; Anthony Fred; Musa Ojo; Oduware Etinosa ; Kelly Uyi; Imade Emmanuel; Wellington Matthew; Adams Osawe.

Meanwhile, the 6 wanted gay suspects who fled from the party are Wisdom Isiah; Jack Taylor; Osasu Melody ; Osasere Hector; Egberanmwen Jeffrey Edebiri and David Larry.

The statement further urged members of the public with useful information that could lead to the arrest of the 6 fleeing gay suspects to report to any nearby police station for a handsome reward adding that the 10 arrested gay suspects are expected to face prosecution in accordance with the provisions of the law.

In Nigeria, the gross violation of the Same-sex Marriage Prohibition Act of 2013 attracts a minimum of 13 years imprisonment upon conviction.
