10 Farmers Kidnapped In Iyemero Community As Efforts To Locate Victims Ends In Futility

No fewer than 10 farmers in Iyemero community have reportedly been kidnapped by suspected herdsmen in camouflage uniform from their farmlands.

On April 17th 2019, gun wielding herdsmen in camouflage uniform attacked farmers in their farmlands where crops worth millions of naira were destroyed by cattle brazenly grazing on them, it was confirmed.

At least 10 farmers were later confirmed to have been kidnapped by the village head after the kidnapped victims were reportedly led into a thick forest and had since not been seen after a search party was immediately deployed.

Shortly after the attack, vigilantes and hunters reportedly combed every forest in Iyemero community in Ekiti State for the kidnapped 10 farmers without any ray of hope .

Meanwhile, the Ekiti State Command of the Nigerian Police in collaboration with the State Command of the local security outfit, Amotekun immediately swung into action to rescue the kidnapped victims by deploying their operatives into the forest but were also unsuccessful in their operations, it was confirmed

Speaking immediately on behalf of the community head in Iyemero in Ekiti State, Pa. Adekunle Abiodun a leader in the community disclosed that Iyemero community had been under constant siege for several years now by herdsmen in camouflage uniform terrorizing the peaceful people of the community adding that 3 months earlier 5 persons were also murdered in their farmlands.

Pa.Adekunle further said that of the 10 farmers who were abducted on 17 April and taken into captivity, 3 were his close family members also adding that they were searching for them till date.

Segun Ayetoro, Adegoke Ayetoro, Waheed Bolanle, Kunle Saliu and Adebimpe Wale were among those abducted.

The others include Olaosebikan Rapheal Ajagun, Bolaji Ajagun, Kudirat Ademola, Kolawole Seun and Femi Olabiyi amongst others .

The kidnapped farmers from their farmlands comprise 7 males and 3 women, according to information made available.
