The Presidential candidate of the of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the Saturday election, President Muhammadu Buhari has won 15 of the 20 local governments in Lagos State, leaving his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar winning five local governments.
With the result, President Buhari won Lagos Sate with vote margin of 132,798 to beat the APC candidate.
Buhari’s victory margin is however lower than the 160,143 votes with which he defeated President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, when he polled 792,460 votes, against Jonathan’s 632,327.
Announcing the results in Lagos, on Monday afternoon, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), said Buhari polled 580,814 votes to beat Atiku, who polled 448,016 votes.
While
Buhari won in 15 Local Government Areas of Lagos, Atiku won in five councils.
The APC won in Apapa, Ikorodu, Ibeju-Lekki, Ikeja, Epe, Badagry, Lagos Island, Agege, Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos Mainland, Mushin, Oshodi-Isolo, Alimosho, Kosofe and Somolu local government areas, the PDP won in Surulere, Eti-Osa, Ojo, Amuwo-Odofin and Ajeromi-Ifelodun local government areas.
