The Bauchi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has confirmed that about 15,000 APC members have defected to the party barely 16 days to the general-elections. This is just as no fewer than 3,500 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Thursday, defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC), in Udu and Ughelli South local government areas of Delta State. The Bauchi State Chairman of PDP, Hamza Akushe Akuyam disclosed this while receiving the defectors in Katagum, Danbam and Misau LGAs of the state. Akuyam explained that lack of justice and internal democracy informed the defection of the APC supporters to PDP. He berated the ruling party for failing to fulfill its campaign promises. “From today, we are receiving about 15,000 APC defectors to PDP in Katagum, Danbam and Misau LGAs and it’s a milestone to PDP victory,” said Akuyam. The chairman reiterated that poverty was a major reason the APC supporters have continued to join the PDP, saying the party’s doors are opened to accommodate all Nigerians. He assured that PDP will defeat APC in all the elections and warned against any attempt to rig the election using INEC. Leader of the defectors, Mallam Isa Adamu accused the APC of deceiving Nigerians in the 2015 election when it has no blueprints for its citizens. Adamu said Buhari was an agent of bad governance who had no accurate idea on how to govern the nation. “We dumped the APC for PDP to protect our political career from being hampered by the ruling party that won 2015 elections by chance,” said Adamu. The defectors in Delta decided for the APC when Chief Great Ogboru governorship campaign train hit the towns. Ogboru and the Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Ovie Omo-Agege also said that the party will not be intimidated in the forthcoming elections by the PDP rigging tactics. Speaking at Ughelli south stadium in Otu-Jeremi and Otor-Udu while on governorship campaigns they said, “Members of the APC and Deltans will resist any intimidation from the PDP because APC is poised to liberate Delta State from the hand of PDP monopolistic rule. According to Ogboru, the PDP is a party of darkness and it is only in APC Deltans can see light and development and he appealed to those who have sold their Permanent Voters Card to go and retrieve them back because votes will count in the coming elections.
