Yobe police arrest man for raping 18-months-old baby

The Yobe state Police Command said it has on Wednesday arrested, one, Ado Alhaji Kanwa who hails from Kazaure of Jigawa state for allegedly molesting and raping an 18-month-old baby.

A press statement issued to journalists on Thursday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Dungus Abdulkarim said the man was apprehended by officers and men of Karasuwa Division.

The release explained that although the suspect hails from Jigawa state, but was currently living in Karasuwa Local Government of Yobe state as a peasant farmer.

“The suspect was arrested after having molested and raped 18 month -old -baby girl, named Adama Mohammed in Karasuwa Local Government Area,” Dungus said.

The police spokesman said that the victim sustained various degrees of vaginal injuries as a result of the incident.

“Investigation has since began for subsequent prosecution of the suspect,” he noted.

Dungus said the Commissioner of Police in Yobe state, Sahabu Abubakar mandated him to call on members of the general public to always report all forms of criminalities around them to assist the police serve them better.

The commissioner further assured he state of the command’s full commitment in the fight against crime and criminality in the state.
