The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, yesterday commissioned a 11km Yangoji-Sukuku-Ebo road, in Kwali Area Council.

Speaking during the commissioning of the newly constructed 11km Yangoji-Sukuku-Ebo road, Wike celebrated the development as a fulfillment of promises made to the Kwali community.

Addressing an enthusiastic crowd of residents, the Minister underscored the administration’s commitment to infrastructural development and community well-being.

He acknowledged the leadership of the Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), commending him for steering the Kwali community in a progressive direction.

Highlighting the importance of the project, the Minister described the road as a testament to the administration’s dedication to equitable development.

“I thought today I would relax here to dance with our people. But unfortunately, I have to run away because of other engagements. But let me not forget, Mr. Chairman, Mr. ALGON Chairman because you have led your people well. You have supported this administration, and your people are happy with you.

“Let me tell you, that bridge will be down,” he assured, eliciting cheers from the gathered crowd.

The audience further enthusiastically responded to his queries about their satisfaction with the President’s leadership, voicing unanimous approval.

“Kwali people, are you happy? Yes!!
Are you happy with Mr. President? Yes!!
You are happy with Mr. President? Yes!!
Mr. President said anything you want, if you ask me, we will do it for you.”

The Minister recalled the genesis of the project, which was initiated following a stakeholders’ meeting held in Kwali last year.

“One of the problems you told us that day was for us to construct this particular road. Today, I thank God Almighty that we made that promise, and it is now a promise fulfilled,” he said, emphasizing that Kwali is the first community in the area to benefit from both road construction and street lighting.

He attributed the successful completion of the project to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reiterating the government’s commitment to grassroots development.

“The government of Bola Tinubu is committed to the development of our people. Therefore, all we urge you to do is just to be patient. If you are patient, at the end of the day, we will benefit from this administration,” the Minister stated.

The Minister also noted other ongoing development projects in Kwali, including the construction of police stations to enhance security in the local government. These efforts, he explained, align with the administration’s strategy to improve living conditions for residents.

Commending Gilmore Company, the construction firm that handled the road project, the Minister praised their efficiency and corporate social responsibility.

“This is the road that I awarded to Gilmore, and they have finished the road on time,” he said.

He further acknowledged the company’s efforts in renovating a local school, urging other companies to emulate such contributions to community development.

The Minister emphasized the importance of mutual respect and collaboration between the government and the community.

“Agreement is agreement. You do for me, I do for you,” he remarked, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to honouring commitments made to the people.

As the Minister departed amidst cheers and applause, it was clear that the newly constructed Yangoji-Sukuku-Ebo road marked not just the fulfillment of a promise but also a step forward in fostering trust and collaboration between the government and the people.
