We’re not surprise by PDP’s rejection of Buhari’s victory – Sen Marafa

The Chairman of Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), Kabiru Marafa has said it was not surprising that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rejected the declaration of Muhammadu Buhari as President elect in the February 23 presidential election.
Senator Marafa said this on Friday, after he met with the President to congratulate him on his electoral victory at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to Marafa, rather than bickering over the victory of the President, Nigerians should be prayerful to God to give the President better health and the will power to continue his developmental policies.
“It is an inherent human behavior to always reject failure, so there is nothing new about the opposition’s rejection of President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory.
“The most important thing is that success has been recorded and accepted by Nigerians including the international community. We just pray to God almighty to give the President abundant health and the will power to continue to logical conclusion his fight against corruption because it is a serious problem in Nigeria,” the senator said.
Reacting to grievances by the PDP that the figures churned out from Zamfara state electorate for the APC was massive, he said, “I don’t think there is anything to worry about it. If you ask me I will tell you that I am not even pleased with the votes that came from my state because I believe we could have done much more.
“We have 1.4million registered voters and we recorded only about 650,000 votes, so what is the big deal about it? If you look at all the states, I think the overall performance is below 60 percent. African leaders congratulate Buhari on his re-election in most of the states.
“We have more than 80 million registered voters and out of this figure, how many voted? In fact we are supposed to lament because the situation ought to be much more than that. Nigerians are supposed to be more politically aware and they are supposed to turnout in their numbers to vote much more than we saw. So I don’t see anything unusual about that”.
