Two ritualists caught in Lagos

The residents of Cele Nisa, in Ijanikin area of Lagos were on Monday thrown into panic, following the recovery of human parts from a woman who has been masquerading as a lunatic.

The woman with an undisclosed identity according to residents had been living under the bridge for several months.

She met her end when a passer-by who had gone to urinate under the bridge heard her speaking on phone that she had gotten the good.

This drew the attention of the man who chose to be anonymous. He claimed he saw her holding a bag.

Surprised at the fact that a mad woman was making a call, he called passerby to actually find out what was wrong.

They apprehend her, searched her bag and found human skull, bones and private part.

Hours after the first suspect was caught, at about 6pm, a man had also been arrested. This was after the residents who suspected they were more than one set fire under the bride and the man ran out.

One of the residents, Arewa Sunday who spoke on the incident disclosed that three human heads with different human parts were found in the suspect’s possession, adding that she threw into the bush the telephone she was with, on sighting officials of the Neighbour watch corps who were contacted.

Another resident, a trader, who identified herself as Mrs Winfred Orji, explained that ”I was going to the market when I stumbled on the crowd. I had to alight from the commercial bus to know what was going on. To my shock, I saw different human parts, both fresh and dried.

“Sometimes, smoke would be billowing from where she stays on top of the bridge. We concluded that she was cooking, unknown to us that she was roasting human parts.

A man’s corpse was also found there, with his wrist watch still working. Clothes suspected to be those of her victims were also found with her. She usually went to Vespa market to beg the traders”.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos Police spokesman, CSP Chike Oti, said ”at about 10am this morning (yesterday), we received a distress call from a resident at a community in Olorunsogo that a mad woman who stays at the bridge was carrying a nylon and on close inspection they found a human skull inside.

While they were dragging with the mad woman they saw officials of neighbourhood watch who they invited to the scene.

“The officials rescued the madwoman from the angry mob who wanted to lynch her and took her to their Zonal office at Iba. The police went there and the suspect was transferred to State Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Yaba for further investigation.”

Sadly, the second alleged ritualist, caught was burnt before the police got to the scene of the incident at Olorunshungo bus stop.
