Tinubu Names Obih, Akinfeleye to Varsity Councils, Appoints Tsafe Health Varsity VC

President Bola Tinubu has approved new appointments in federal universities, naming Hon. Chisom D. Obih to the Governing Council of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, following the death of a council member.

Prof. Ralph Akinfeleye, a veteran communications scholar and former Head of Mass Communication at the University of Lagos, was appointed to the Governing Council of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, replacing Mr. Wahab Owokoniran.

The President also unveiled principal officers for the Federal University of Health Sciences and Technology, Tsafe, Zamfara State. Prof. Ibrahim Adamu Yakasai, Provost of the College of Health Sciences at Bayero University, Kano, becomes Vice Chancellor, with Mr. Hamisu Yusuf Yelwa as Registrar, Usman Nakazalle Sanusi as Bursar, and Dr. Shehu Aminu Liman as Librarian.

A retired Army Colonel, Prof. Yakasai boasts extensive medical qualifications from Nigeria, the UK, and the USA, including fellowships from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the American College of Surgeons.

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga announced the appointments in a statement on Wednesday.
