Tinubu derides promoters of ‘O to ge Lagos’ slogan, says it can’t work in Lagos
The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has said that the promoters of popular Yoruba slogan, ‘O to ge Lagos’, meaning ‘enough is enough in Lagos’, that they cannot succeed in their antics, declaring that such slogan can’t work in Lagos State as the state was making progress in all facets of life.
Tinubu who made this declaration on Saturday while speaking with newsmen after casting his ballot at his polling Unit 047, Ward 3, Ikeja Local Government Area, warned that there was a limit to copying concepts from other states of the federation, expressing confidence that his party would emerge victorious in the exercise.
The former Lagos State governor said, “We are going to win because we are the only party in Lagos State, others are pretenders; they come and they will go away. Leopard cannot change his skin,” he added, declaring that Lagos belonged to the progressives and would remain so.
While saying that no other state had achieved what Lagos had achieved in terms of financial independence, among others, Tinubu said he was contented that other states in the country depended on allocation from the Federal Government.
“Lagos State today will not depend on any allocation before we take care of capital needs; we build roads and bridges everywhere from Oregun to many parts of the state.
“The real estate value of Lagos State has exponentially increased than any other state in the federation. We are the fifth largest economy in Africa; let me see that governor who will do better than that,” he said.
Speaking further, the APC National Leader blamed the media for giving prominence to negative stories of violence and thereby painting the state in bad light at the last presidential election.
“I take exception to what happened in Okota two weeks ago. I am very upset about that incidence placing Lagos as if we are violence-prone,” he said.
