Three in Police net over child trafficking in Kano

The Kano State Police command has apprehended three persons in connection with child trafficking in the state.
According to the command’s public relation officer (ppro) Dsp Majia that a young lady residing in Sabon Gari area, church road reported to the state Anti Kidnapping unit that a woman approached her demanding to buy her child.
” On receiving that report, we set out our men to return with the woman as undercover watching how the transaction was taking place. During that transaction, a woman who claimed to be a staff of the renowned Ecwa clinic whom happened to be the middle person presented the sum of 13,000 promising to balance the sum of 2000 Naira”
The mother of the child one Fatima quickly alerted the police men whom were around and the woman was consequently arrested.
After investigation, the woman confessed that some couples came in from Abuja seeking to get a child of not less than three months. Majia stated that the woman was allegedly beaten up about a week ago when she attempted stealing a child about a week ago .
Speaking with the couples, the husband Mr. Bob-manuel Mpaka stated that he has been married to his wife for some years now without an issue hence decided to adopt a child through a legal means.
” we are not kidnappers, we came to Kano after we were informed that we could get a child for adoption in Kano. We came with our married certificate and every other necessary documents.
We never knew the woman whom was facilitating the whole thing is compromised”
Recall that the state has witnessed an upsurge in cases of Child trafficking in recent months particularly in Hotoro quarters of the state.
Majia reiterated the command’s readiness to combat any form of crime in the state and urge parents to be vigilant over their wards.
