Threat To Life: Unknown Gunmen Kill Man After Botched Business Deal
Barely few months after a planned business deal in oil and gas industry between Mr.Rafiu Salawu and his partner hit the rock, confirmed reports have emerged that unknown gunmen suspected to be assassins have reportedly attacked his residence and murdered him on 20th October 2023 .
It was confirmed that Mr.Rafiu Salawu, who was murdered around 3am October 20th 2023 in cold-blooded manner, was constantly being threatened by his business partner after losing huge sum of money to some Lebanese businessmen fronting as big stakeholders in the oil and gas sector in Lagos State.
Our correspondent was reliably informed that Mr.Rafiu Salawu introduced the Lebanese businessmen to his business partner(names withheld) of over 10 years with the intention of exploring
new opportunities in the oil and gas industry.
Presented with the golden opportunity of breaking new grounds in the oil and gas industry, a deal to the tune of 10 million dollars was struck and all the parties including Mr Rafiu Salawu and his business partner were perfected with excitement and documents signed as well only for the worst to happen weeks after several delays in the deal taking-off on the expected date in July 2022, it was confirmed.
Investigation however revealed that Mr Rafiu Salawu and his business partner after several weeks of patiently waiting, realized that the Lebanese businessmen had conned them to the tune of 10 million dollars after frantic efforts were made to locate their office within Lagos metropolis but were shocked to discover no such businessmen ever existed within the business complex premises on the island within the State.
Trouble however started for Mr Rafiu Salawu as it was confirmed that his partner, who was the major financier in the business plan, suddenly became convinced that Mr Rafiu Salawu intentionally masterminded the heist with the Lebanese businessmen.
A source in the family, who preferred anonymity, said that his partner came with thugs who are dangerous cultists and members of the dreaded Black-axe confraternity (Ayes) on several occasions to Mr.Salawu to harras and threaten him to either provide his money or face the consequences of his actions.
“During one of such occasions before he was gruesomely murdered, Mr Rafiu Salawu in the presence of his wife and family members received several calls from his business partners who threatened to do away with him and his family members if he was unable to produce his money.
“He later reported the case at the police station in March 2023 and was assured that investigation into the threats would be investigated.” the source confirmed.
But sadly on October 20th 2023 Mr. Rafiu Salawu was murdered in cold-blooded manner by unknown gunmen who broke into his apartment a day after he spoke with son, Farouk Salawu who was aware of the botched business deal between his father and his partner involving the Lebanese businessmen, as he(Farouk Salawu) had already travelled out of the country, it was confirmed.
Meanwhile as frantic efforts to unravel the identities of the actual killers continue in the wake of the gruesome murder of Mr Rafiu Salawu, other family members of the deceased have also raised alarm over their safety and well-being in the face of obvious threats to life.
Information made available revealed that the business partner of the deceased Mr Rafiu Salawu is an influential individual who wields so much power in the corridors of power in Nigerian politics.
It was confirmed that after the gruesom murder, he further threatened to eliminate every member of the family having close blood ties with Mr.Salawu in return for his 10million dollars.
At the time of this report, the family residence of Mr.Rafiu Salawu had been deserted by others including his wife and children whose whereabouts however remain unknown to anyone as further threats to life after the gruesome murder continue to heighten .
