Tension as Naval rating stabs commercial motorcyclist in Bayelsa

There is rising tension in Bayelsa State between commercial motor cyclists popularly known as the Keke Riders and security personnel in the state following the stabbing of their colleagues by a Naval Rating over transport fare.
The Naval Rating, identified as Boco Ene and attached to the Central Naval Command, had on July 3rd, 2017 stabbed Richard Efone, a commercial motor cyclist along the Agudama Epie area of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
According to the aggrieved Keke drivers, though the victim survived the evil act by the Naval personnel, the shoddy handling of the investigation by the Police at the Akenfa Police Station and the invasion of the police station by some Naval personnel over the detention of their colleague is wicked, unlawful and provocative.
Already, the family of the stabbed keke driver, has sent a Save Our Soul message to the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo and the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), demanding that the accused Navy Personnel be brought to justice over the alleged stabbing of the left arm of their brother and the aggravated body injury and torture he was made to go through in the hospital.
The Petition, signed by the cousin to the victim, Mr. Egadah Peter, accused the authorities of the Central Naval Command of shielding the accused Naval Rating and frustrating the Police investigation into the incident, “the culprit who was alleged to have been arrested and brought to the Akenfa Ploice Station was released by some Naval superior officers led by Egwutu Baa from Kwale in their absence, allowing the culprit walk freely without punishment or recourse to compensate the victim.”
According to the Petition, ” All we are asking from the Acting President and the Naval authorities is for the accused Naval personnel to be made to answer for his indiscipline act and show that the Naval Authorities uphold the new campaign by the Federal Government that “change start with me”.”
The victim of the incident, Mr. Richard Efone , while narrating his ordeal, said he pulled over after the naval base turning point at Agudama Epie to pick a family of three, when the Naval Personnel, Boco Ene rushed inside his keke.
He pleaded with him to join the next keke in other to allow the family occupy his own keke since they were together going to Akenfa but Boco Ene threatened to stop their movement by destroying his keke if he doesn’t take him to Royal FM.
“As he said that, he jumped down from the keke, asked them to come down from the keke and also asked me to come down. I was begging him. It was then he tried to jack my keke up. As I was pleading, he was still jacking me and the keke. I came down standing at the other side to wage the keke not to fall. He said am still trying him and brought out knife from his pocket.”
“I tried to run for my life and he was chasing me with the knife. On the process, I fell down and before I could stand up, he stabbed me with the knife on my palm. When the knife pierced into my palm, I began to shout for help. He said he was going to kill me and started chasing me again even with blood all over my body. Then a policeman passing in another keke saw me and came down for my rescue. He tried to calm him down for more than one hour and finally convinced him to go and treat me”.
“He refused to come with us but called his brother and gave him money to follow us to hospital. We couldn’t see any hospital as it was after 12am but getting to Akenfa Police Station, we entered to report the incident. His brother tried to escape but the other policeman that rescued me held him and he was handed over for him to take police to the navy officer that stabbed me”, Richard stated.
