Sultan commissions N74.7m primary school in Bauchi

About N74.7 million worth Primary School built and named after His Eminence, Sultan Muhammad Saad Abubakar has been commissioned in Miya village, Ganjuwa Local Government area of Bauchi State. The Muslim supreme head in Nigeria, Sultan Abubakar while commissioning the Primary School in Miya yesterday said there is need to put all efforts together to provide conducive learning environment for the future generations in the country. He expressed appreciation to Miya community and the Bauchi state government for naming the school after him. Sultan said, “The initiative for the construction of this primary school came from my last visit to Miya in 2010. The people requested for school accommodation and lamented over poor school structures in the community. I deliberated with the Emir of Bauchi Alhaji Rilwanu Adamu on how to come to the aid of the community; we sought for the support of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Abuja and the state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) over the construction and renovation of the primary school”. He added that, “luckily enough, the two institutions made a concerted effort and commit the resources for the construction of some blocks, renovated some, built a new brand mosque and fence the school to provide security”. The Sultan assured his continued support for the primary school that was named after him, saying that for naming the school after him, it will therefore enjoy the support of the Sultanate through seeking support from wealthy individuals and organisations in the country for it to enjoy and maintained its standard. He donated ten computer sets to the primary school, with a call on the Bauchi state government to upgrade the school to boarding for the benefit of all students across the state. The Executive Chairman, Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Professor Yahaya Yero had earlier in a remark commended the effort of Sultan Abubakar for his effort in providing intervention project to Miya Community. Professor Yero said, “the project was successfully executed by UBEC / SUBEB) at the total cost of N74,745,029.19, similarly his Excellency Governor Mohammed Abubakar approved 15,230,600.00 for furnishings and commissioning of the school”. He explained that the commissioning of the school has direct relevance to the main focus of the present administration to provide sound and qualitative education to the future generations in Bauchi state.
