Microbiology which is the study of microscopic organisms, such as bacteria, viruses, archaea, fungi and protozoa. This discipline includes fundamental research on the biochemistry, physiology, cell biology, ecology, evolution and clinical aspects of microorganisms, including the host response to these agents cannot be underrated because micro-organisms and their activities are vitally important to virtually all processes on earth.
Also Micro-organisms matter because they affect every aspect of our lives – they are in us, on us and around us.
Some students of Microbiology speaking on Twitter said the government have, paid little or no relevance to the discipline in Nigeria because of poor research and funding of the sector sectors

A student on his Twitter timeline lamented that ‘Microbiology is underrated in Nigeria
He went on to say: ‘Nursing is a Profession. Law is a Profession. Accounting is a Profession. Medicine is a profession. Pharmacy is a profession. ….and Microbiology isn’t?
