Street begging unacceptable, unhealthy to society- Comrade Tsoho

A Member of the Federal Republic (MFR) and Principal of the FCT Vocational Rehabilitation Centre, Comrade Bala Tsoho Musa, has condemned begging in its entirety in the FCT and the country in general, urging them to “find something with their hands” instead of indulging in begging which was dehumanizing and unacceptable.
He had this message for the handicapped persons who take advantage of their condition, including able-bodied persons who turn begging into a lucrative profession in Abuja, during presentation of food items to the needy for Sallah celebration, penultimate weekend.
Comrade Tsoho, who stated this while responding on behalf of eight beneficiary groups who were presented with cows, bags of rice and cartoons of vegetable oil to enable them celebrate Eid el fitr, expressed gratitude to the FCT Administration and prayed Allah’s protection and guidance for the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, for making it possible for them to celebrate with smiles and hope.
Accordingly, one cow, five full bags of rice and five cartoons of vegetable oil each, totaling eight cows, 40 big bags of rice and 40 cartoons of vegetable oil, were presented to representatives of eight groups of the needy in the FCT.
Making the presentations on behalf of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Director of Protocol, Alhaji Musa Sani Daura, stated that the donation was borne out of the good spirited nature of the FCT Minister and the need for everyone to fully take part in celebration of Sallah, in line with Islamic injunctions.
He further explained that donation of food items to those who need them during nationally recognised festive periods like Christmas, Sallah and Easter were a routine practice by the Federal Capital Territory Administration, aimed at ensuring that not only the haves, but also the have-nots too took part in these celebrations.
