Several Killed, Trapped as Trailer Loses Control in ImoSodiq
A trailer with registration number Anambra XB82HAL, on Monday, crashed into the fence of the Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO) killing yet to be identified number of persons, near Imo State University junction on Okigwe Road, Owerri.
An eyewitness told Daily Times that the truck loaded with bags of cement lost control while descending from a hill.
When Daily Times visited the scene of the accident, it spotted some charred bodies of the victims, while others were suspected to have been buried nearby.
The number of persons affected was yet to be known but, it was gathered that some commuters, who were standing by the road side waiting to board commercial buses, may have been affected.
It would be recalled that, last year a truck veered off the Imo State University roundabout junction, ran into a shopping mall, killing a young man, who had just returned from Europe, to establish a poultry farm. Also injured were some people in a restaurant at the shopping complex, where the vehicle rested.
