Senate’s Report on Drug Abuse, worrisome – Dan Saran Kano

Kano State elder state’s man Alhaji Gambo Dan Pass also Dan Saran Kano, has described the report of the Senate which allege that over 3 million bottles of cough syrups are consumed daily in Kano and Jigawa states as an ugly trend which every leader should be worried about.

Dan pass who attributes the rise in drug abuse among youths and women to negligence on the part of government’s officials who fail to introduce policies that would better their lives.

He said, as long as government at all level continue to fail in its responsibility of providing meaningful job to the teeming youths, the issue of drug abuse will continue to grow as youths are currently undergoing indescribable level of frustration.

He lamented the poor attention given to the fight against drug Abuse in the state by the present administration.

According to him, the previous state administration did well in the fight against drug Abuse and the high rate of record in the state was drastically reduced as a result of the task force set up to fight the menace.

That government must put aside politics in matters as such and join hands together with all stake holders in tackling the issue of drug abuse by identifying the suppliers, methods of supply and do all that is possible to check mate their activities.

“Our youths are the leaders of tomorrow unless we salvage them from this path of destruction, Nigeria is heading to destruction, a nation without responsible youths has no future.
