Russia breaks case record for second day in a row as virus spreads
Russia on Sunday recorded a sharp rise in the number of confirmed coronavirus infections, with a record 10,633 new cases registered in the past 24 hours.

The new confirmed infections brought the total number to more than 134,600, authorities said. So far Russia has recorded 1,280 virus-related deaths.
Russia was not badly hit in the early phases of the global pandemic, but the number of confirmed cases has been rising dramatically in recent days, despite restrictions on public life to stem the spread of the virus.
The country has ramped up testing significantly in recent weeks, which experts say account for the considerable rise in infections.
