RUMOURS: Man Utd to discuss new Mata deal

The Red Devils are ready to bring forward talks regarding fresh terms after seeing the Spain international midfielder enjoy an impressive start to the 2016-17 season

Manchester United are ready to enter into contract-extension negotiations with Juan Mata, according to The Sun.

The Spain international is already tied to the Red Devils until the summer of 2018 and was initially expected to discuss fresh terms at the end of the current campaign.

United, though, are eager to bring talks forward and reward the form of a man who has remained consistent throughout a disjointed opening to the season for Jose Mourinho’s men.

It was suggested that Mata would be moved out of Old Trafford once the Portuguese took the reins – having been sold by Mourinho to United in January 2014 – but the former Chelsea midfielder has become a key figure, appearing in 18 fixtures so far and netting five goals.
