REVEALED: Premier League’s most creative player this season

With Mesut Ozil among those not hitting their usual levels in laying on goalscoring chances, Crystal Palace’s Jason Puncheon is the man leading the way this term

When most people think of the most creative players in the Premier League, names such as Mesut Ozil, Kevin De Bruyne and Dimitri Payet are among the first to come to mind.

But so far this term there is a surprise at the top of the standings when it comes to chances created in the English top-flight, with Crystal Palace’s Jason Puncheon leading the way.

The former Southampton man has laid on 24 opportunities for his team-mates, with Chelsea’s Willian his closest rival having created 23 chances of his own.

Dusan Tadic takes third while De Bruyne and Payet are joined by Roberto Firmino and Ross Barkley in having made 20 openings.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, they have only been able to apply the finishing touch to just two of the chances provided by Puncheon, with De Bruyne leading the way when it comes to assists with four.

Ozil, meanwhile, is yet to be credited with an assist in the league having carved out just 13 goalscoring opportunities for the Gunners this term.
