Rep doubts Kachikwu on oil well

Member representing Amuwo Odofin Federal constituency of Lagos state, Rep. Emma Oghene Egoh has said that he doubts federal government’s sincerity in its vow to allocate oil wells to people of the Niger Delta.
Speaking to journalists in his office in Abuja yesterday, the Delta state born lawmaker said he premised his fears on actions by past administration that have treated the people of the region with so much ignominy.
“Kachikwu has stated that government wants to give oil wells to people from the South South, I don’t believe him. If it took such a long time, Obasanjo and Jonathan were there but they never gave these wells to the people from the region, so if somebody tells me now that he is going to give, I won’t believe him.
Oghene Egoh however want government to be transparent when they finally decide to fulfill their promise.
“However, my take is to wait and see if they can keep their promise. Let there be transparency about it, how many people from Niger Delta were given before, now is the turn of the region to have their oil wells back
“The question is; why were the oil wells given out to Nigerians and people from the Niger Delta left out. The region is the goose that lays the golden egg, is it that they are not educated enough, not qualified or that they are not business men. These are the things that fuel agitations. It is clear that they were unfair to people of the Niger Delta Region, however, if they now decide to do restitution, it is alright. After all, we belong to the same country and I do not think there is anybody that wants Nigeria to break up, but to remain as brothers, that union should not be based on deceit, cheating. The case of allocating oil wells found in the Niger Delta to people outside the region is pure fraud and a very sad thing at that” Oghene said.
