Reign of Terror Looms In Odiguetue As Farmer Discovers 3 Corpses of Missing Siblings Without Vital Organs

For weeks unending local residents, hunters and vigilantes combed the nooks and crannies of Odiguetue community in Ovia North-East local government area of Edo State in vain for 3 siblings who left home on December 20th 2018 to their farmland and never returned.

The vast majority of the local dwellers in Odiguetue community are predominantly farmers whose major means of livelihood is mainly derived from sales of farm produce.

However farming activities in this community has reportedly reduced owing to recent escalations in the protracted farmers and herders conflicts.

With farmers and herders clashes recently accounting for over 10,000 deaths, several agrarian communities in Edo State are hugely impacted by the escalating conflicts between farmers and herders as perpetrators of these heinous crimes against humanity comprising mainly bandits and the nomadic herdsmen execute these planned and coordinated attacks on defenseless farmers with impunity.

The lacklustre attitude of security agencies in arresting or prosecuting the real culprits of these escalating farmers and herders conflicts across the country only stems from the simple fact that certain powerful individuals from a certain region of the country unduly interfere in these cases to ensure the murderous nature of these cases are treated with levity and perpetrators even when arrested are immediately released with a direct phone call put across from high authorities.

The trend and undue influence from this regional influential powers seems to be fuelling the escalation of the criminal activities of these bandits and nomadicherdsmen on a daily basis as government’s failure to critically address the menace has further emboldened the marauding AK-47 wielding herders and their cohorts.

Posing more security threats to unarmed and defenseless farmers across several communities in Nigeria, farmers-herders crisis unarguably accounts for over 5 millions deaths second highest to the dreadful impact of Boko-haram in Northern Nigeria.

However in Odiguetue community, several families have either been permanently displaced or prevented from having direct access to their farmlands owing to the increased and brazenly unrestrained grazing activities of normadic cattle breeders thereby further heightening food insecurity in affected communities as government’s failure to respond is said to have further escalated the criminal activities of the herders.

Early in February 2018, AK-47 wielding herders ransacked Odiguetue community killing over 70 local residents while others sustained varying degrees of injuries as crops and farmlands belonging to several families were destroyed and
burnt down .

However in December 2018, Odiguetue community was momentarily plunged into eerie sense of pandemonium and uneasiness following the sudden disappearance of 3 siblings who went farming to carry out harvesting activities in order to meet the annual production output for the year ending as the family’s only means of livelihood to raise money ahead of the Christmas celebration but never made it back home afterwards.

The 3 siblings who are Rosemary Igbinovia, Andrew Igbinovia and Dorothy Igbinovia retired back home in late 1993 after the sudden demise of their father Late.Mr.Sunday Igbinovia who passed on March 18th 1993, a tragic development which plunged the entire family into a quagmire of despair as they only had to cultivate the soil to survive.

Although, the eldest son of the family, Joe Igbinovia, who is totally unaware of the unfortunate tragedy in his family, is said to be largely unknown to members of the community in Odiguetue as he was said to have travelled out of the country to the United Kingdom several years ago in search of greener pastures and has since not returned to his country of origin till date.

Meanwhile, farmers and herders crisis in Odiguetue community in Ovia North-east local government area of Edo State continue to account for 70% avoidable deaths as families aside losing their crops to unlawful activities of herdsmen whose cattle brazenly graze on farmlands with reckless abandon also end up losing their lives ultimately.

Perhaps for the 3 siblings of Late Mr.Sunday Igbinovia whose lives were tragically cut short in the hands of cold-hearted marauding normads, the dynamics of the story would have entirely been different had they not gone farming on the fateful but for a family whose only means of survival is solely farming.

On December 20th 2018, the 3 siblings like everyone in the community embarked on their daily routine and went farming, expectedly to return home before nightfall but it was not to be.

After 48hours, no word on the missing 3 siblings, a search-party comprising seasoned and professional hunters and farmers was organized at the instance of the community head to comb every nooks and crannies of Odiguetue community including farmlands.

Barely a week after their sudden disappearance, exactly on December 27th 2018, a farmer while working on his farmland suddenly discovered and exhumed 3 decomposing corpses of 2 females and male buried in shallow graves .

For the 3 decomposing corpses, all the vital organs were completely harvested and the corpses buried in shallow graves.

The shocking discovery of the corpses of the 3 siblings in shallow graves however heralded an era of organ harvesting in the community as casualties from farmers and herders crisis were beginning to dangerously assume another dimension in the form of organ harvesting .

Local residents in Odiguetue community wept uncontrollably when other farmers in the community mobilized and brought the 3 decomposing corpses of the 3 siblings out of shallow graves without vital organs on display at the centre of the townhall before they were eventually buried in normal graves without any relatives present.

Meanwhile, the widow of Late Sunday Igbinovia, Mrs.Rebecca Igbinovia unaware of the tragic loss of her 3 children in Odiguetue community permanently resides in another community far from Odiguetuecommunity, according to findings, was said to have already been battling with a life-threatening ailment .
