There had been complaints that the ambassadorial list sent by Buhari was lop-sided in favour of some senatorial zones in the states. One of the ambassadorial nominees, Dame Pauline Tallen, from Plateau state had rejected her nomination. Explaining why Tallen rejected the appointment, Governor Lalong said: “Well, it is not only about her husband I think it is the dimension of plateau politics because I had already made complains to Mr. President that appointments should not be concentrated in one zone. And so all these appointments came again from one zone, in that particular zone

BREAKING: We are responsible for current economic problem – APC quits blaming PDP “So the complains that are coming from our state is not about her own personal interest, it is the fact that two ambassadorial appointments are coming from the same zone that we had complained. That is my zone.” He said there had been complains that the next appointment should go to the other zone the central and the northern zone, so when her appointment came, she had to make the sacrifice for the people of plateau and step down. Lalong noted that the problem would have been resolved if there had been a little consultation before the appointments. “So you can’t have two appointments, very key appointments like that coming from a particular zone that is already overloaded with appointments. All the federal appointments is from the southern zone, so it would not be fair,” he added. Earlier, the president sent the names of 46 persons to the Senate for confirmation as ambassadors. However, at the screening session, some irregularities were found in the personal and academic records of Aliyu Abubakar, one of the Buhari’s nominee.
