Professionalism will bring innovation to public service, says Ekiti HOS

…Receives report on Sites for Commercial Purpose
Head of Service of Ekiti State, Dr Olugbenga Faseluka has said that a shift from Administration-dominated to professionalism-driven Public Service will bring about new ideas that would be used to run the “old public service system to conform to international best practice”.
The Head of Service said this while receiving the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Dr. Rotimi Oladele who paid the Head of Service a courtesy call in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday.
Dr. Faseluka who stressed that the Public Service runs on rules and precedence noted that the system is also open to innovations that could benefit the Public Service especially in the area of service delivery.
He expressed the readiness of the State to synergize with professional bodies that could add value to the Public Service of Ekiti State; adding that there is need to enhance the competence of new entrants into the service with professional courses that are relevant to the scheme of service.
Earlier in his remarks, the President of the Institute, Dr Oladele had identified the need for the three tiers of governments to patronize professionals; saying this would enhance effectiveness and efficiency in the public service.
Oladele who lamented the mismanagement of the information system said there should be feedbacks from people on the policies and performances of government. This, he said, would help benchmark government’s performances using the people’s yardstick.
In another development, the Head of Service, Dr Faseluka has received the report of the committee on Approval of Sites for Commercial Purposes.
Receiving the report, Dr Faseluka commended the committee members for their patriotic effort at ensuring a rapid development of the State.
He called the attention of the committee members to a Masterplan for development which he said would guide both government and citizenry in the area of economic and infrastructural development.
Faseluka called on public servants who are entrusted with power to actualize government’s policies not to lead the society into error; stressing that they must make good use of their offices for actualizing effective service delivery.
The report was presented by the Commissioner for Environment, Chief Bisi Kolawole who doubles as the chairman of the committee.
