Pro-El-rufai groups fault his nominee rejection, threaten Senate

By Idibia Gabriel

A group, known as “Tudun Wada Sustainable Development Association” and five other similar groups stormed Kaduna Press Centre and faulted the rejection of the ministerial nomination of the immediate past Governor of the State, Nasir El-rufai, saying the Senate should not throw him away with the proverbial bathwater.

The Senate had few days ago confirmed the nomination of 45 ministers out of 48 that were screen, leaving behind El-rufai and two others.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, the Secretary of the group, Nasiru Ladan in company of other officials threatened that Senate should clear El-rufai without further delay in the interest of peace, fairness and justice and in consideration of his brilliant performances in public offices over the years.

“The Tudun Wada Sustainable Development Association, Zaria, in consultation with other organisations in the State have been following with keen interest, the unhealthy development in the process of screening and clearing of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ministerial nominees by the Senate.

“We notice with serious concern the conspiracy to deprive our beloved country the benefits of Malam Nasir El-rufai’s tremendous contributions, competence and expertise in governance.

“Malam Nasir El-rufai is focused and result oriented Administrator. All these are indisputable. Based on the records available, Malam Nasir El-rufai was the best performing governor in the history of Kaduna State.

“As other ministerial nominees, Malam Nasir El-rufai was equally subjected to security scrutiny before their appearance at the Senate chambers for screening and clearance.

“Accordingly, he also took his bow at the end of interaction he had with the Senators and left. Therefore, to raise and entertain a fresh security report is an afterthought, witch-hunting and victimisation.

“As rightly observed by the Senate President, petitions and complaints should be directed to the appropriate quarters. That is how it should be.

“We urge the Senate to clear Malam Nasir El-rufai urgently without further delay in the interest of peace, fairness and justice. Unfortunately, there are some nominees cleared and are allegedly with cases before EFCC”. The group said.
