Politician seeks traditional rulers, Miyetti Allah, govt alliance to end killings

A Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Barr. Sani Sami has appealed to the Federal Government to engage Traditional Rulers and the leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Rearers Association to proffer solutions to the incessant killings in the country.

Sami who made the call on Thursday in Abuja stated that the solution to the killings lies with the traditional rulers and leaders of Miyetti Allah.

He said that it is unfortunate, that the traditional channels of communication between herdsmen and community heads in recent years have broken down due to federal government land ownership policy which vested ownership of all land in the country on the government.

Sami said that the country is passing through the adverse effect of land used Act that was promulgated by defunct military government who forcefully removed control over land from the traditional rulers.
