Police operatives apprehend fake visa procurement agents

The Special Fraud Unit (SFU) of the Nigeria Police has arrested two notorious visa document suspected fraudsters for allegedly forging visa payment receipt and fake visa procurement in Lagos.
The suspects, identified as Awolola Segun Sesan and Adebayo Rilwan Ajasa, were Thursday paraded at the SFU Ikoyi headquarters a long side one Miss Afolabi Olubunmi Modupeola, accused of allegedly appearing at the American Consulate with passport No. A9955907 containing fake UK and Heathrow immigration stamp.
While parading the suspects, SFU Police Public Relations Officer ASP Lawal Audu disclosed that the duo of Awolola and Ajasa specialize in manipulating visa payment receipts by using CorelDraw application in Microsoft Word to edit payment slips in order to use same for more than one applicant.
He added that the suspects who were arrested in Lagos Island area on 13th and 14th June 2017, claimed to be working as online appointment agents to the American Embassy, using same to defraud unsuspecting applicants.
According to the SFU image maker, trouble started for the suspects when an applicant name withheld paid the sum of Sixty Thousand Naira (N60, 000.00) into the account of Rilwan ajasa with GTB for appointment/visa fee for his son.
“ Ajasa instead of making payment upon receipt of the money, opted to buy already used payment receipt belonging to another applicant from Awolola Segun for the sum of Thirty Thousand naira (N30,000.00).

He added that the fraudulent act was discovered by the American Embassy who then invited the applicants, from where the identity of the suspects was revealed to be the brain behind the act.
In their confessional statement, Audu said Awolola had revealed that he works with a notorious document vendor identified as ismaila
Adekunle Adefile, now at large , who had been arrested in 2016 for same offence and arraigned at chief magistrate Court 2,Igbosere, Lagos.
On the case of Modupeola, the SFU public relations officer said the suspect, 34, a native of Osun state had applied for American visa with Nigerian International passport containing fake UK and Heathrow immigration stamp.
He added that the passport of the suspect, who had earlier applied for British visa twice and refused for procuring fake document, also contained fake Chinese visa and departure/ arrival stamps of various African countries.
