Police dock 2 men over alleged public disturbance

The police on Wednesday docked two men — Suleiman Saheed, 23 and Aina Idris, 26,
in a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over alleged public disturbance.
The defendants, who are both residents of Orile Iganmu, Surulere, Lagos, are facing one-count charge of
disturbance of public peace.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Anthonia Osayande, told the court that the two men committed the offence on
Jan. 31 at about 9 a.m. at Orile Igamnu, Surulere, Lagos.
He said that the defendants unlawfully armed themselves with offensive weapons in such a manner as to cause terror.
Osayande added that the offence contravened Section 51, 411 and 168 (1) (d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and the Magistrate, Mrs Oluyemisi Adelaja, granted
them N100,000 bail each, with two sureties each in like sum.
Adelaja said the sureties must be gainfully employed and must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government
and adjourned the matter until March 15 for mention. (NAN)
