Police arrest over 15 protesters of #RevolutionNow protest in Lagos

Security Operatives in Lagos, numbering about 100 on Wednesday morning stopped the #RevolutionNow protest, arresting over 15 protesters.
Sources told Daily Times that the protesters were whisked away in patrol vehicles of the Lagos State Police Command.
Recall that the #RevolutionNow protest was initiated by Omoylele Sowore, the publisher of Sahara Reporters, started August 5, 2019.
The protesters, some of whom wore orange berets, carried placards and banners with inscription demanding for better governance, healthcare amongst others.

Daily Times gathered that the protesters gathered at Ikeja Under Bridge around 9:30a.m. but met fierce police presence.
The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana was contacted to confirm the arrest, but he refused to respond to calls.
A text message was also sent to him but he was yet to respond as at the time of this report.

A statement by CORE on Tuesday signed by Baba Aye and Gbenga Komolafe, Co-conveners of the revolution, reveals that the protest would be taking off from two strategic points in Lagos. The conveners said via their official Twitter handle that
“It is time to organise and revolt against bad system and dictatorship In Nigeria. Our time is now!”
According to the statement, the protest will take off from Adeniyi Jones Junction, Ikeja, by 8am prompt. The conveners further noted that the protest will simultaneously take place across other major cities in a strategic design to register their dissatisfaction regarding the gross inadequacies of the APC government
