Plateau united condoles with Nasarawa united over player’s demise

The management of Plateau United FC of Jos has condoled with the management of Nasarawa United FC of Lafia over the demise of one of its players, Chineme Martins.In a condolence message by its Media Officer, Mr Albert Dakup, issued on Tuesday in Jos, the club described Martin’s death as “unfortunate and a collosal loss” to the nation’s football family.

According reports that Martins slumped and died on the pitch on Sunday.

The 23-year-old defender died during the week 23 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) encounter between Nasarawa United and Katsina United at the Lafia township stadium.

Dakup, who further described the death as regrettable, added that the young, talented and promising defender died in his prime“The management, technical crew, players , staff and the entire supporters of Plateau United FC of Jos wish to condole with Nasarawa United FC of Lafia over the sad and painful death of its Player, Chineme Martins.“This is very sad and regrettable as the player died in his prime.

“We sympathise with the club and the family of the deceased. We pray God to grant his soul peaceful rest and give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” he saidThe media officer urged professional football clubs in the country  to strengthen their medical department to ensure early detection of ailments in players
