Pandemonium as fire breaks out in Ondo Gov’s office
Pandemonium struck on Wednesday at the Ondo State Governor’s office in Akure, the State capital, following a heavy inferno that broke out at an inner room which led to the State Executive Council (SEC) chamber. The fire incident started around 2:30 pm when the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Ali Modu Sherrif, was paying a courtesy visit to Governor Olusegun Mimiko at his Alagbaka office in Akure.
Alhaji Sherrif had barely finished his meeting with Governor Olusegun Mimiko at the inner room of the governor’s office when the fire incident broke out at the anteroom of the SEC chamber. Journalists from both the electronics and print medium, who had been waiting patiently at the governor’s office to conduct an interview for the visiting National Chairman of the PDP, hurriedly left the premises of the room in fear of being caught by the ravaging inferno.
Also, Civil servants and top government workers at the Governor’s office, who had earlier been going about with their normal business, were seen scampering for safety as at the time of the fire incident in the premises. It, however, took the combined effort of some government workers’ sympathisers and officials of the State Fire Service, who quenched the fire from extending to other rooms of the governor’s office.
