#Osun decides: PDP’s restoration mission

In just a few months, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) will be making a choice on who will be its flag bearer for the 2018 Gubernatorial elections in Osun state. The choice is definitely between the old breed and the new breed, the old faces or a new face, the old brand or a rebranded PDP.
The choice is whether the party is seeking just power or is it seeking to fix the despair state of the state’s economy by plugging the right peg in the right hole. Thereby, restoring hope, prosperity and tranquility to the State.
The state of Osun’s economy requires the intellectual capacity to handle the situation on ground. PDP’s choice of candidate will definitely determine the party’s fate at the polls and in particular, determine the fate of millions of Osun residents and indigenes for the next four (4) or more years.
PDP, the only feasible opposition political party in Osun State, is no doubt faced with an onerous task of providing the eagerly awaited alternative to the present political, social economic quagmire facing the state. Osun, currently faces it’s worst economic crisis of all times.
The task to restore the State of the Living Spring is evidently not expected to be the usual politics of the highest bidder but one that is principally centered on the party’s professed mission to rescue an already bewildered State from an unusual but imminent collapse. The mission is clear – The State of the Living Spring must live again. Osun must be salvaged.
If politics is truly for the sake of the people, the party has no choice but to put Osun people first.
Hence, the party should be firm, time conscious and clear headed enough to present to the waiting hands of a now desperately conscious Osun State electorate a candidate that has the intellectual capacity to wither the storm of the financial crisis the state is.
Any attempt to underrate the level of present political awareness of the people, borne out of outright failure of the ruling Apc in the State, is another doom waiting to boom.
Acceptance of a PDP candidate this time, must be one made simple for the yearning populace, bearing in mind that the State has been wired to critically analyse such candidates as may be nominated.
The candidate must not only be seen as one with true capacity to win election but, with verifiable intellectual capacity, national and global contacts to pull down this heavily built “poverty wall” in the state.
Osun state needs a fresh face with a vision, a fresh name with a mission and a fresh blood that empathizes with the people. This is where Corporate Lawyer, Global Trade Financing Strategist and Corporate Governance Specialist, Prince (Dr.) Ayoade Adewopo comes in handy.
The widely travelled Ile-Ife born charismatic corporate executive is currently an aspirant the PDP in Osun State cannot afford to toil with if the party’s mission to take back the State is not just for the jamboree, but a mission to get the state out of the woods.
“Ayombo” as he is popularly called in Osun political circles, is a globally renowned expert in corporate governance and global trade financing, who has served as counsel to corporate and government entities in different parts of the world.
Ayoade, of all the aspirants in the PDP is undoubtedly adequately prepared in terms of exposure to managing economic crises on a large scale like that of Osun State. The easy going but deeply cerebral Ife Prince is articulate, incisive and forthright. He has served as special advisor to many multi- national corporations on diverse transactions, which include commodity hedging, mergers, acquisitions, global or cross-border joint ventures, global security issues, global trade ethics, compliance policies and many more.
His first hand economic and good governance experiences are suitable to defeating the present economic woes confronting the state.
Aside being a popular scion of the Ogboru Ruling house in Ile Ife, PDP’s strongest hold in Osun State, Dr Ayoade Adewopo, by virtue of his global corporate activities, is also blessed with a legion of contacts across board in Nigeria and the world at large, on which the state can leverage upon to salvage the once vibrant agrarian State.
True to his style and training as a global trade financing strategist and economic crisis manager, Dr Adewopo has got his plans and blueprint well cut out, all centered on his philosophy of allowing human beings to live and live well.
Eleven years ago, in the year 2006, Ayoade was elected as President of Marion County Bar Association, Indianapolis, Indiana USA (America’s 12th largest city) after previous elections as Secretary and Vice President of the same bar association. Leadership won’t be strange to this young achiever.
“Ayombo” is a man of contagious inspiration whose enthusiasm is a propeller of progress, development, good governance and favourable life for the citizenry.
Prince Adewopo is the man we need in our dear state at this crucial hour where we have huge financial debt, underdevelopment in all areas of our economy and ridiculous wasteful spending of the current APC government who embarked on white elephant projects around the state. Prince Ayoade Adewopo is the capable hand to help restore the State of the Living Spring.
It is also worthy of note that Prince Ayoade Adewopo whose parents are both from two popular royal homes in two major cities in Osun state (Ede and Ile-Ife) has the love of our senior citizens at heart, especially our pensioners who has worked during their youthful age for the growth of Osun state. Prince Ayoade, himself is the son of an elderly pensioner.
His affection for our elderly is evident in his extremely silent philanthropic activities that caters to the needs of Osun state indigines and residents, both young and old. His annual charitable support program for our widows has been of immense assistance to our elderly women. Likewise, his annual education scholarship program that has so far taken care of over 2000 students ranging from secondary to PHD education.
Osun PDP is at liberty to latch on to this great opportunity presently provided on a platter of gold amongst the aspiring titans in Osun PDP.
The candidature of this double Prince from Osun will provide a young and fresh personality with fresh ideas capable of portraying the PDP as a reinvigorated and rebranded party clearly with a mindset to deviate from retrogressive tendencies.
Oladele Bamiji and Olaide Popoola from Osogbo, Osun State.
