Ondo Election: CAN Condemns Call For Postponement

Barely four days to the governorship election in Ondo State, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN),in the state has condemned call from some groups and individuals for the postponement of slated for Saturday.

Speaking with journalists in Akure, the state capital on Tuesday, Rev. John Ayo Oladapo, said “I do not want to believe that an individual is more than an entire state.

The CAN chairman said,” But justice must be done; what is right must be done.Let those in charge of the law interpret the law accordingly and let  INEC do the needful.

“There should not be manipulation in any forms and there should plain ground for everybody and then there would be no need for reoccurrence of 1983 political crisis in the state. I pray it will not happen again because It will not do any of us good.”

Rev. Oladapo added that the religious association was a major stakeholders in the affairs of the state but said it would not endorse any candidate for the election.

According to him, CAN is not a political organisation that will not anoint any candidate.

He urged Christians in the state to vote according to their conscience and convictions for a candidate that is  straightforward with high integrity.

The state CAN chairman stated that those clerics in active politics must take caution and be guided so that they would not divide their congregation.
