Ondo AG rallies support for disaster victims
Ondo State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, has called on members of the society and philanthropists to garner more humanitarian support for victims of disaster in the nation.
Jegede, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), made the call on Tuesday, shortly after being conferred with the platinum membership of the Red Cross Society held in Akure, the state capital.
He said that the victims of disaster deserved special treatment of emergency and attention from non-vulnerable people in the society.
He appreciated the leadership of the Red Cross Society for their emergency role.
He also saluted their charitable support in terms of crisis management in the state.
“I am one of the admirers of the Red Cross because of its history of service, help, sacrifice, care for those in need and I will be happy to be part of that family.
“I promise to be a responsible member and pray that history will always judge you right because of your humane, sacrificial activities and dedicate this membership to victims of humanitarian crisis across the globe”, Mr. Jegede assured.
The Ondo State Chairman of the Red Cross Society, Mr. Lade Fasua, said that the membership card was presented on Jegede as a result of his philanthropic qualities.
Fasua said that some of these qualities had further helped to galvanise support for humanitarian service and people in the society.
He, however, expressed optimism that Jegede would continue to support humanity to motivate others in towing the part of societal responsiveness.
