Okorocha reads riot act to criminals, donates patrol vehicles to police

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has reiterated the determination of his administration to ensure that criminals have no place to hide in the state through maximum security of lives and properties.

He equally said that the state government would provide functional vehicles for them for easy and quick penetration of all nooks and crannies of the state by providing security gadgets.

Okorocha who gave the assurance on Monday when he commissioned 20 patrol vehicles and two motorcycles which he procured and handed over to the state police command in Owerri tagged ‘Government House security.’

He said that the vehicles were specifically meant to beef up security at some specific areas within the Owerri Capital City which is fast becoming a tourist centre and a destination point for visitors and industrialists.

The governor who spoke through the Chief of Staff Government House Owerri Chief Uche Nwosu commended officers and men of the state police command for their relentless efforts to rid the state of undesirable elements, noting that kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism and child trafficking have drastically reduced.

The state Commissioner of Police Mr. Chris Okey Ezike his remarks, stated that some officers and men of the command were recently trained abroad on security matters and had acquired special training and knowledge in their profession.

Ezike commended Governor Okorocha for his financial magnanimity to the police, stressing that security is gradually     becoming expensive

Ezike while assuring residents of the state of adequate security called for greater community participation in crime control and prevention, stressing that intelligence gathering is of paramount importance.
