Okada riders in lkorodu send SOS to Police over extortion

Okada riders in lkorodu have sent a Save Our Soul (SOS) message to the Police Command in Lagos State to prevail on the lkorodu branch of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RETAN) from imposing tickets issued to commercial vehicles on them.
Branch Secretary of the Motorcycle Operators Association of Lagos State (ANACOWA), Mr. Nosiru Akilo, made the appeal in a statement issued in Lagos.
He said that motorcycle operators in the area, who claimed that their members had their own ticketing system, frowned at the call on them to pay a similar fee as commercial vehicle to the union.
He explained that the appeal became imperative in order to avert another possible clash between okada riders and the members of RETAN.
Akilo alleged that the lkorodu branch of RETAN, under the leadership of Alhaji Sule Onabanjo Ajisakin, had distributed tickets to his boys to give to okada riders from today Monday and okada members would resist the tickets.
ANACOWA also called on traditional rulers in lkorodu division to intervene in the matter. Akilo however appealed to members of ANACOWA to be peaceful in their conduct as the matter would be resolved peacefully. He noted the okada riders are law-abiding members of the society, but would not accept an imposition of outrageous levies on their members.
