Ogun State flags off rice harvest, targets mass-production

The Ogun State government has flagged-off the harvesting of 2020 wet season rice planted by some farming groups in the state, with ample support from the state government.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony held at Sowunmi Village, Mokoloki, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Samson Odedina, said that the plan is to overtake Kebbi and Niger states in rice production.

He also noted that investors were already keying into this initiative.

“In Ogun State, rice business matters and it is a way of encouraging the youth to embrace agriculture.

“People have invested in rice in Ogun State, they invested in mill and invested in warehouse,’’ he said.
