Obstetric fistula, a must end hassle

Obstetric fistula a condition that occurs when a mother has a prolonged, obstructed labor, and doesn’t have access to emergency medical care, such as a cesarean section, has taken so many lives.

Every May 23, since 2013, Commendable NGO’s set out to sensitize and create awareness in communities where fistula is common and often blamed on women.

Obstetric fistula common with women aged 15-49 usually occurs during a woman’s first pregnancy.

Fistula patients are often left in isolation, unaware that others share her injury and that it is treatable.

Meanwhile , just as the fight to end COVID-19 rages on, the need to end obstetrics fistula should not halt, maternity health, food, care should not be a scarce commodity in the life’s of fistula patients.
