Obiano’s N10m market projects to be completed in August – Ezenwankwo

The President- General of Amalgamated Markets Traders Association of Anambra State (AMATAS), Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo, has assured that Governor Willie Obiano’s N10 million projects in all the markets in the state will be completed by the end of August, 2017.

Chief Ezenwankwo spoke at the Electrical Dealers International Market (EDIM), Obosi, during the one year anniversary celebration of the new executive led by Evangelist Peter Obi.

He said work was seriously ongoing on the projects, with some being completed, some in advance stage, and others have reached 50 percent, and 20 percent, while few others were yet to take off due to some minor hitches.

Ezenwankwo therefore called on the traders in the state to reciprocate Governor Obiano’s good gestures by paying taxes and levies to the state Government as and at when due.
He also challenged the traders to rally round the Governor in his second term bid, so that he wound complete the good works he has started in the state and in the markets in particular.

The President-General lauded the Obi-led executive for their tremendous achievements made in their one year in office, particularly restoring peace to the market.

We want good leadership. For what they have achieved in one year, they are doing well. They are taking after us in AMATAS and I will support every market with good leadership. We have a solid foundation in AMATAS. Every market should also have solid foundation. It is my duty to turn the markets in Anambra State around,he said.

The chairman of the market said God and the traders who believed in their leadership were the secrets of their success in the last one year to hold sway in the leadership of the market, expressing that out of about 27 cases they inherited from court, they have reduced them to only three cases.

He said that the remaining three cases have been handed over to him by the Judge to arbitrate within three months to settle them out of court.

Obi said: I thank the people who supported us in this last one year. And that is why we set out today to pray and thank the people. We ask the people for more support for the remaining three years, but we have peace and God on our side, we have solved all the problems and we are assuring of having peaceful reign.

He appealed to the state Government to come to their rescue in constructing the entrance road of the market to Akora, so that the market will have another road linking it with outsiders.

The chairman said the Anambra State Commissioner for Environment has come to inspect some erosion sites threatening the market and promised that they would do something.
He appealed for urgent intervention on the sites to avoid further expansion, stating that the market leadership was addressing the ones inside the market.
Obi said their immediate challenge is to purchase at least two security vehicles to effectively secure the market.
