NLC elections: State chairman seeks NUT, other unions’ support

As Kebbi State Nigeria Labour Congress fixes April 25th for its elections, the struggle for succession has commenced in the state to elect new members that will steer the affairs of the Union for the next for years as chairmen and for other posts.

Preparatory to the polls, the state chairman Comrade Umar Ahassan Halidu in a press statement seeks the support of the Nigeria union of teachers (NUT) and other unions in the state who are strong affiliates of NLC and holds votes, to rally round him to return elected to be able to complete giants projects he started within four years and many others on the pipeline.

The statement further stated that the mother Union maintains a harmonious working relationship with other unions in the state that greatly greased vehicles of developments and progress in the state to what is now seen as a huge breakthrough in unionism.

My first mention of the NUT is because is critical to the success of NLC itself not only during elections but always, we will continue during and after polls to pursue all demands of unions and the people they represent at all levels.

The NLC boss calls for calm as he envisaged peaceful and transparent polls that elections will add much credibility to the mother union in the state.
