NIPSS, Centre for Nurturing veritable think-tanks in Nigeria says Governor Oborevwori

Delta State tovernor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has described the theme of the study tour of participants of the Senior Executive Course 46 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, which was “Digital Economy, Youth Empowerment and Sustainable Job Creation in Nigeria” as timely and very urgent.

Governor Oborevwori stated this in his remarks at a dinner organized by the Delta State Government held in honour of the participants of the Senior Executive Course 46 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, held at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba on Friday.

The Governor who spoke through the Head of Service, Mr. Reginald Bayoko, stated that it was a unique privilege for the state to play host to the course participants whom he described as brilliant minds nurtured by the institute.

“It’s not every day that we have the privilege to host minds as brilliant as those of you nurtured by the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies – truly, you are the creme de la creme, the elite! A veritable think-tank” Governor Oborevwori said.

Speaking on the giant strides his administration was making in ICT, vocational training and education centres across the state, Governor Oborevwori expressed joy that their visit had shown them that the Delta State Government was committed to fostering digital economy and youth empowerment.

“From information gathered about your interactions throughout the state, especially the Ministerial briefing sessions, I am persuaded that you have enriched your research and, I daresay, our perspectives as well” Said the Governor.

The governor who likened the state government relationship with the institute as a well-aged wine which only gets better over time, maintained that the robust relationship would be sustained for mutual benefit.

While expressing optimism that the memories of their visit to the state would leave a lingering taste of joy and camaraderie, stated that the renewed friendship, enlightening exchanges, and the rich tapestry of cultures that had been woven during their stay in the State would be unforgettable.

In his remarks, the Director-General of the Institute and Leader of the group, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, appreciated the Delta State Government for its support in their research endeavours which he said was enriching.

He paid glowing tribute to the state for harnessing the talents of the youth especially in the entertainment industry, and affirmed the cliché that truly, “Delta nor dey carry last”
