Nigeria not fully developed for tourism -Shyllon

Nigeria has not been fully developed for tourism, despite its natural inhabitants, identifying tribalism and ethnicity as vices for domestic tourism growth.

These observations were made by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Omoba Yemisi Adedoyin Shyllon Art Foundation (OYASAF), Prince Yemisi Adedoyin Shyllon.

Shyllon made the statement during an interaction session with Daily Times, Tuesday at his arts residence in Lagos. He noted that Nigerians do not travel far and wide apart from the Igbo people.

Speaking further, OYASAF CEO said, international tourists are facing many problems right from the airport. “The attitude of the immigration officers within the airport is bad, facilities are bad.”
At this point, Shyllon urged, there are many aspect vulnerability, arising from kidnapping, violence, robbery as well, stressing, all these are not encouraging international tourism.

According to him, “Transportation system is very bad and we do not develop tourist sites. We have Olumo rock at Abeokuta, yet not developed. We don’t have monuments, no artistry and tourism parks.”

Describing Lagos, Cross River, Oyo, Kano and Ogun as states that have the facilities to encourage tourism, also, he noted that there are one or two places in Lagos tourists can visit. “In Lagos State there were freedom park, Lagos museum , very good numbers of galleries, three and four stars hotels and fantastic transport facility.” While He further commended the Lagos state government in trying to protect the people and property, which he said would encourage tourism.
